How Advertising Agencies Use Voice Over Talent

Advertising agencies are always looking for voice-over talent. It’s one of the best places to find work. Before you head off to ask every single one you can find if they will hire you, it’s important to know what they are seeking in voice over talent.
Advertising agencies use voice over talent in many ways. Their goal is to help a company gain more customers. Some of the ways they do this are with:
  • Billboards
  • Commercials
  • Websites
  • Press releases
  • Ads
  • Radio spots
  • Interviews
  • Social media
These aren’t the only ways they help companies grow, but it’s the most common ones. Not all of them can use voice over talent. It’s obvious billboards, press releases, ads, and interviews would not need a voice over, but commercials, websites, radio spots, and social media could use one.

Commercials

Commercials use voice overs all of the time. They present an image on the screen and then they have someone discuss it – a voice over artist. Many times, a person isn’t even shown the screen, only the product. The voice is in the background providing information to help sell it.

Websites

Many websites have started using videos to explain a business. Some are using animated characters on the site to explain to visitors where to go and what to do to find a product or service. The voice in the video or the animations are usually voice overs.

Radio Spots

Getting on the radio is a great way to reach consumers. When someone is a guest or regular on a radio show, there’s usually an introduction and sometimes a conclusion. Those quirky intros and endings are usually done by voice overs.

Social Media

Social media is very popular these days. Companies are increasing their presence online with social networks. Voice overs are used in content that’s shared on social media. Videos are mostly what is shared on social media, even if it’s not on the company’s website.
